RIDING WITH A 6 YEAR OLD

The development of a child is nothing short of phenomenal with many changes certainly evident in her cycling ability.  Courtney has been on a bike long before she ever laid eyes on the world which may have some bearing on her dedication to riding and riding with dad.

Her experience really shines when moments arrive that bring out her competitive nature.  As an example, her quote in the local bike club directory, stated when she was only four years old, is "Let's go kick some butt!"

At 6 years Courtney is truly an amazing stoker and for the first 20 miles of a ride she really pushes along.  As the season progress here endurance will no doubt increase as will the type of motivating rides.

Here we are with a break in the weather with it being 43 degrees heading out for a 28.5 mile ride.  We have her equipped with booties and electric insoles just like dad.

The obligatory stop at the Dairy Queen is 19 miles into the ride.  This time of year they serve up great hot chocolate to warm the little ones cool fingers and the grilled cheese is pretty darn tasty as well.

Our journey this summer across the long state of Kansas pretty well sums up Courtney's cycling at the age of 6.  Her sister Natalie completed over 100 miles of the 550 mile adventure as well.  See the many photos and read all about our experience on BAK 2004.  We are all very proud of their accomplishments, as if you could not tell!
